Shunya Yamashita, perhaps one of the most famous and popular of anime and video game character designers, has returned to the Ori range after the success of Risa and offered a new creation. This time the magnificently moody and busty demon.

With a cute but yet sulky expression, she offers a slight departure from the usual cheeky Shunya Yamashita faces, she to have an almost sinister glare. Her subtle skin tones are very well painted offering a smooth but delicate appearance. Her ornate costume features nice sharp clean edges and has been painted in blacks and purples to create an almost menacing look to her costume that matches her dark expression, leathery wings spread behind her.. She also comes on an elaborately painted and decorated totem that she sits atop, finished with fantastic metallic paints. Another work of note would certainly have to be her hair, the shading here really is magnificent and almost seems to resemble Kanu Unchou’s hair.

Gurren Legann’s Yoko is one of these characters to add to the list. Over the last twelve months the volume of figures that have been released of this red haired, zipper-booted, sniper is quit extraordinary. This new Gathering statue certainly stands out from the crowd.

This beautiful resin statue of Yoko has been individually hand painted to incredibly high standards, the shading and highlighting is stunning with very realistically toned skin. The ORI: Darkness range continues its Elf range of figures with this ornate and dynamic Dark Elf in combat against a group of Bloody Bats.

The armour is immaculately detailed with ornate gold design and red jewels she is leaping forward, propelling herself forward with one foot on a grave stone. Her mighty sword impaling one of the bat foes as it swoops in to attack. This figure is perhaps the finest and most beautiful of the Dark Elf figures to be released so far. Her super-low-bearing, skin-tight pants are elegantly clad with a red motif that continues to her top, and there is not alot of a top at that. This cowgirl has little modesty and is only too happy to to tease with her greatest assets. This figure also includes a exclusive custom themed base.

In 2007 Yamato released Shunya Yamashita’s Rei Ayanami in PVC form. The problem was it didn’t really represent the original kit form or the original artwork by Yamashita.

E2046 have been hard at work correcting the wrongs done by the PVC figure. Eye on Asia will soon be releasing Rei Ayanami Plugsuit version as it should be, featuring bandages, amazing paintwork and removable clothing. And that’s not all!

The talented crew at E2046 have created an original piece of art to compliment Rei. Asuka Plugsuit is not a Shunya Yamashita illustration but has been designed, sculpted and made to fit alongside Rei without looking out of place. Both of these figures are 1/6 scale and measure 25-27cm tall, they also boast NERV insignia bases that can be connected to have them side by side.

Art Storm / Lilics continues its line of beautiful figures based upon artwork from Japans to manga and video game illustrators. So far we’ve has Shunya Yamashita and Mine Yoshizaki, now it’s time for the most popular of all Japanese illustrators Masamune Shiro.

The lovely bandit is named Juliona Trans and is from a series of illustrations by Masmune Shiro that have been named Wild Wet West.

With it’s very rustic colours it certainly stands out from the previous figures in the series. Juliona Trans boasts very large guns and a huge cigar in her mouth.  Her un-buttoned top reveals alot of breast, the skin has a slightly shiney finish to make her appear to be sweating. She also features a removable hat.

This is certainly one of the kinkiest figures in the Artists Character Series and is a welcome addition to one of the finest anime figure lines released.

To all Figma fans. The first sculpt of a special edition Gantz figure of Reika has been unveiled. The figure looks as though it is going to be very good and comes with plenty of weapons and accessories as we’ve come to expect from Figma.

This figure will only be available with the Japanese edition of volume 26 of the manga (June 2009) and will not be available for general release. Sorry to be the bringer of bad news. Please enjoy the pics.

Revoltech Yamaguchi continues it’s line of Gurren Legann action figures with the release of Revoltech 065 Enkidu.

Physically Enkidu may appear to have less to it than a normal Revoltech because it doesn’t have a head as such, and instead has a removable scythe like weapon. The awesomeness of this figure more than makes up for the lack of a head though. Enkidu has to be one of the most unusual looking Revoltech’s so far (just wait until you see Enkidudu next month).

The previous Enki is and extremely good and well painted figure and Enkidu looks set to be more of the same, even though it comes with less accessories. Enkidu is also being released along side Doko Demo Issyo’s Pierre. Hopefully two releases of Revoltech Yamaguchi per month will carry on into 2009, although one must think they must be getting short on ideas or licence’s by now (hope not).

This 1/6 (27cm) figure of Imari Kurumi depicts her in a scene from Chapter VI of the Bible Black series, being attacked and molested by a devil that has grabbed her through a mirror. Imari’s terror filled expression seems to scream out of the figure itself.

One of the things that makes this figure unique is the way the devil is emerging from the mirror, the effect is very impressive. Also the semi-transparent wings are a nice added feature. As usual, in C-Works Bible Black tradition the bra and skirt can be removed, revealing Imari’s blue and white panties. Perhaps the panties are the only cute feature this figure has.

This figure probably isn‘t to the tastes of the masses, but for those people who like figures of young ladies in compromising situations, this is probably the ultimate figure… ever!

Xenosaga’s Kos-Mos is one of the most popular anime character figures available and is eagerly sought after by collectors. Now fans of this sexy lady are being treated to a 1/6 scale pvc figure by Alter of her wearing little more than a sci-fi swimsuit.

Alter’s past track record of putting popular anime characters in swimsuits is very good, with the fate/Hollow Ataraxia’s Rider and Saber being some of the best, Kos-Mos looks set to better these with its fine translucent hair and stylised swimsuit that isn’t too skimpy and compliments her nature nicely.

Measuring about 30cm tall she will dominate any of the other Xenosaga figures released so far. And expect excellent skin shading and highlighting with the usual Alter quality paint application. She also comes with an optional dagger that can be attached to her anklet. The buns in her hair, ties around her legs and arms and the blues of her ornate bikini all compliment the coolness of Kos-Mos perfectly. Her nose and mouth also look very well sculpted resulting in her looking sophisticated and cute at the same time, with her dark brown eyes.

With her delicate facial features, curvaceous form and stunning hair this Kos-Mos figure should be one of the best swimsuit figures to date.

It’s here at last, Native Creator’s Collection volume 2. And this figure is going to raise a few eyebrows for sure.

This poor little space girl has been caught in a rather compromising position be evil intergalactic space tentacles and they are sure to have their way with her, that’s if you want them to anyway.

This figure has got some impressive credentials to its name. For a start it is 1/5 scale meaning this is a big figure (about 23cm), all the better to admire the finer details. Secondly, almost all the items of clothing and accessories on the character can be removed, revealing ALOT of flesh. Also the figure is based upon an illustration by Akiman and sculpted by Tsuyoshi Hamazaki, one of the finest figure sculptors. The figure should also be shipping with an illustration card by the original artist.

This delightful Emuko Kousoku figure is due for release January 2009 in Europe and is only available to persons over 18 years of age.

Arts Storm’s Shunya Yamashita Character Series continues this December with the release of Nasca, one of the more unique figures based upon Yamashita’s works. For collectors of Yamashita figures Nasca may look familiar to some and she does have many similarities with Revoltech Fraulein Pocco released by Kaiyodo. If they are based upon the same illustration or if they are supposed to be similar I don’t know.

I especially like the pose for this figure it is very sensual and revealing at the same time. The colours are also very soft made more so with the use of Art Storm’s excellent use of shading and highlighting.

As with all figures based upon Yamashita’s works there are the usual trademarks that make this figure a step ahead of the rest. These include the massive sword, sharp dazzling eye’s, revealing costume and erotic pose.

2009 is going to be a fantastic year for Shunya Yamashita fans, with most of the major manufacturers continuing their lines, Art storms Character Series (including Mine Yoshizaki) is looking to be the best in my opinion.

The new Saber from Fate/Stay Night might be the ideal Xmas gift this year.

It is manufactured by Gift, a fairly new company, with close ties to Alter. This new saber figure looks like a masterpiece of a pvc figure.

Measuring about 18cm tall she also come with two different head pieces. One with the typical anime style expression and the other with a more natural, human expression. The level of detail that has gone into this figure is stunning. The armour is the shiniest I have ever seen on a pvc figure and looks almost chrome plated, you really can see reflections in this armour. Also, the effect of the underskirt is very good too. It has been made out of a thin, almost frosted, piece of plastic that gives it a very delicate and light effect as if it is being blown in the breeze.

This Saber figure looks set to be the finest fate figure yet and its December release is eagerly anticipated.

November sees the release of  Revoltech Yamaguchi Enkidu and Pierre. The new Enkidu figure looks stunning, the original Enki figure, released this month was cool, but this one looks even better. And this won’t be the last we see of Enki as a Revoltech either. Pierre is the latest instalment in the Doko Demo Issyo range of Revoltechs, he also seems to be the best in the series.
