Some thing never change, and Kaiyodo seems to be one of those things. The Revoltech line is expanding to include more exclusives only available in Japan.
This time the exclusive Revoltechs come in the form of these awesome repaints of the classic EVA 01 and 04 figures featuring new metallic colour schemes and accessories.
These Revoltechs will only be available as prizes at Pachinko Parlours and a limited number will be available from the Gainax store. Let’s hope that future Revoltechs will be made a little less exclusive to Japan as many western fans grow weary of not being able complete their collections after last years cancellation of Enkidudu and Black King Gainer to become exclusives.

It’s been a long time since we announced any new Revoltech developments. But here we are just weeks away from the big Revoltech 3.0 Reboot and the very first image of new figures have started to emerge.
2009 will see the continuation of the Assemble Borg and Fist of The North Star range of figures, although there is still no news if Assemble Borg will ever make it to Europe.
Most interesting is the return of the mech figures, although this line will certainly be accompanied with character figures (so far three Queens Blade figure are scheduled for release). It seems that the Gurren Lagann range may finally be drawing to a close for now, And Evangelion will be getting a Revoltech revival featuring all new EVA’s as the appear in Evangelion 2.0. At the back of the image is a new EVA that features in the film, more on that at a later date. It has also been rumoured that new Getter Robo figures are likely to be released.
Eye on Asia is currently planning on stocking the new 3.0 range shortly after their release in Japan, so hopefully you won’t have to worry about the extensive European delays! (Still no signs of Enkidu and Pierre!)
More exciting Revoltech news and images coming soon…

In late 2008 Eye on Asia started a partnership with E2046, the company behind the finest Resin Kits in the world and creators of the Gathering range of pre painted resin statues. Every year since 2003 they have held contests where kit builders and painters can compete for great prizes, recognition and self satisfaction. As these events grew on popularity it was slit into two contests per year (Summer and Winter). Now for the first time the contest has been split into two divisions: Senior and Junior, so now contestants who are new to kit building and painting need not worry about competing against more experienced modelers.
There are 3 categories available to enter in Summer Contest 2009, these are: Figure, Mecha and Diorama. Each category speaks for itself but there are some rules that apply (linked below). Because kit building and/or painting is considered an art there is now wrong or right way to do things, so if your new to all this and are unsure of your abilities fear not, give it a try you will likely be surprised. The E2046 contests are held by a very friendly and helpful community and all art is appreciated. All entries are voted on by the public and a panel of judges consisting of Moderators, E2046 staff and special guest who in the past have included the likes of Danny Choo, Luca Zampriolo, KitBuilders Magazine, and Model Kit World Magazine. It has been announced in recent days that the Revoltech Yamaguchi line, Revoltechs first and best selling range is to be discontinued with immediate effect. Decembers scheduled release of figures (Enkidudu and Black King Gainer) are to be made as magazine exclusives, and won’t be easily available outside of Japan.

This news will certainty come as shock to Revoltech fans. The Yamaguchi line is considered to be the best and be the heart and soul of what Revoltech is all about. This could be one of the results of Good Smile Companies acquisition of the Revoltech brand. Kaiyodo do seem to have been having some problems with Revoltech over the last 12 months, there are been some serious QC issues and the fact that Fraulein, Hokuto No Ken and SFO ranges have all massively under-performed. Still it seems hard to imagine why they would cancel their best selling range. Perhaps Yamaguchi just needs a break, he has been sculpting 2 figures a month since 2006, that’s alot of hard work, and certainly worthy of a break.

But all is not lost. May 2009 has the release of 3.0 REBOOT, Revoltechs third generation of figures, and sure enough Yamaguchi will return. It is said that the new 3.0 line will be a blend of mech and character figures.

The first ever Revoltech Expo has been a trilling event for all fans of Revoltech figures. There have been announcements and previews galore including including the date for the release of Revoltech’s 3rd Generation (3G) which is being debuted with a trio of cool Queen’s Blade Figures. Despite not much being revealed for Revoltech Yamaguchi, other than Enkidudu and a snazzy new Overman King Gainer figures. All the current lines (Fraulein, Revolution, SFO) will be expanded upon. They will also be accompanied by Assemble Borg by the end of this year. 2009 see’s the release of the already mentioned 3rd Generation Queens Blade and some slightly depressing looking Alien figures to go alongside the new film. There will also be at least one more new range of Revoltech figures released before the end of 2009.

To all Figma fans. The first sculpt of a special edition Gantz figure of Reika has been unveiled. The figure looks as though it is going to be very good and comes with plenty of weapons and accessories as we’ve come to expect from Figma.
This figure will only be available with the Japanese edition of volume 26 of the manga (June 2009) and will not be available for general release. Sorry to be the bringer of bad news. Please enjoy the pics.

· Filed under News ·Tagged acquisition, anime figures, figma, fraulein, good smile company, kaiyodo, licence, max factory, nendoroid, Revoltech

Good Smile Company come to the rescue for Kaiyodo a they complete their acquisition of the Revoltech licence. This now means that Good Smile has stakes in a huge portion of the vast majority of anime and video game figure manufacturers. Another interesting subject to note is that Good Smile now holds the licence for Kaiyodo’s Revoltech, Max Factory’s Figma and their own series of Nendoriod. I think one of the results for this might be the discontinuation or at least a big re-thinking of the Fraulein Revoltech line, that seems to have under-performed.
It is still unclear if Good Smile will be buying up the licence to any other Kaiyodo ranges. One thing that is almost certain to happen is a price increase of the Revoltech lines to bring it more in line with Figma, Nendoriod and Atelier-Sai’s own action figure ranges.

Organic Hobby Inc., the distributor for Kaiyodo has terminated all dealings with Kaiyodo. The reason for this decision is yet unknown, but with the recent success of Kaiyodo’s new Revoltech lines and the forthcoming new Bome series it would not have been a decision taken lightly.
